PLANNING PERMISSION SUCCESS – 9 DWELLINGS IN FAREHAM

BJC Planning has obtained planning permission for the erection of 9 dwellings with associated parking and access following the demolition of outbuildings.  The application on behalf of Southcott Homes related to a site identified as a housing allocation, HA26, in the Council’s emerging Local Plan.  It is located on the northern side of Beacon Bottom.

The application proposed a range of house types and bedroom sizes of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom properties, with all of the dwellings having been designed to address on-site constraints and around the existing locally-listed cottage, which would be retained with an appropriate curtilage.  The scheme avoids building over the foul sewer through the site and means that existing protected trees can be retained.

Access to the site would be taken to the west of the existing access where visibility splays of 2.4m x 33m can be achieved.  Whilst the existing hedgerow would be removed across the frontage, the more prominent trees on the highways verge would be retained and there would be scope for additional landscaping.

Members unanimously supported the application at Fareham Borough Council’s Planning Committee after a lengthy debate and questions.

Planning permission for the site was issued on 18th March 2021.
