22 Dec A MICROPUB FOR ROMSEY
BJC Planning is delighted to have obtained Planning Permission and Listed Building Consent for a micropub in vacant premises in the centre of Romsey. The building in Market Place is being restored and historic features of the building retained and exposed. The use as a micro public house will afford public access to the ground floor where the clientele will be able to appreciate this historic building.
A pre-application consultation established that the proposals were acceptable in principle.
A planning application and Listed Building application were submitted to Test Valley Borough Council in late July 2020. These were supported by detailed information on the proposed modifications and on the restoration to the building. Since then, there have been negotiations with Council Officers, notably with the Conservation Officer to ensure the acceptability of the proposals.
When works have been completed the premises to be called ‘The Cocky Anchor’ will open in 2021.
