Planning Permission for Single-Storey Rear Extension to Shop in High Street, Gosport

BJC Planning has recently obtained planning permission for the erection of a single-storey rear extension to a shop at 138-140 High Street, Gosport, including a separate storage use (B8).

There was until recently a single-storey asbestos clad warehouse/shop floor extension at the site, but this has been demolished.

The retail unit fronting the High Street (138-140 High Street) is currently vacant but it is understood that a retailer is looking to move into the premises in the near future, which will create a number of new retail jobs when the shop opens.

The site is located adjoining the Town Hall immediately to the west and within the High Street Character Area 5 within the Gosport Waterfront and Town Centre SPD.  It is denoted as being suitable for commercial and residential above ground floor units.  The proposed extension at this site would not prejudice the type of development envisaged within the SPD, which could come later.
